The Deutschordensschloss stands in the southwestern part of Dinkelsbühl’s old town, in Bavaria’s Middle Franconia. This baroque castle forms four wings around an inner courtyard. Its eastern main wing presents a central risalit, a pavilion roof, and portals facing both sides. An older northern wing adds a dormer and a stairway portal onto the courtyard.

The Teutonic Order first appears in Dinkelsbühl’s records through a bailiff mentioned in 1317. In 1390, the Franconian land commander acquired the present site in the Segringer suburb. That seat later became an upper bailiff’s office for the order’s Bailiwick of Franconia. Builders demolished the late medieval structure in 1709 and began a replacement designed by Wilhelm Heinrich Behringer. Matthias Binder added the remaining three wings between 1761 and 1764.

The attic contains a rococo chapel with stucco, painted-panel doors, and leaded glazing. Restorers cleaned the stucco and refurbished the wooden furnishings, retable altar, doors, and windows. The restoration project finished in 2019 after work that began in late 2018.
