Döberitzer Heide is a nature reserve near Dallgow-Döberitz in Brandenburg, where dry grasslands, heathlands, moors, and mixed forests form a broad open landscape. Fifty-five kilometres of marked trails cross these habitats without leading visitors into wildlife areas.

Three hundred years as a military training ground shaped the terrain through fires, explosions, and moving vehicles. The former military site now covers 3,600 hectares and shelters almost 1,000 protected animal species, including wisents, Przewalski horses, and red deer. Grazing animals help maintain the open habitats, while more than 170 wild bee species add to the reserve’s insect life.

Military traces still remain, including possible munitions, so marked paths matter here. Leashed dogs can accompany you, and guided tours and educational programmes connect the landscape’s natural history with its military past.
