Silen med bacchusbarn is a bronze statue in Copenhagen’s Ørstedsparken, among public sculptures inspired by Greek and Roman mythology. It shows Silenus beside a Bacchus child. In Greek mythology, Silenus accompanies and teaches Dionysus, the wine god also known as Bacchus in Roman tradition. The older figure carries associations with wine, music and revelry. The sculpture is a bronze copy of a Greek original, and the park presents a collection of related mythological figures. Satyrs and Apollos appear elsewhere among the park’s sculptures.

Installed in 1886, Silen med bacchusbarn belongs to a classical collection placed within a landscaped public park. Ørstedsparken covers 6.5 hectares around a central lake. Landscape gardener H. A. Flindt designed the park, which was laid out between 1876 and 1879 and keeps its original appearance. Since 1963, the protected park brings bronze sculpture and landscaped nature together in Copenhagen. The park takes its name from the Ørsted brothers, including physicist and chemist Hans Christian Ørsted. The central lake occupies about 1.8 hectares.
