# Botanisk Have

Botanisk Have is Copenhagen’s botanical garden, set in the city and connected with the University of Copenhagen. Rock gardens and alpine beds lead towards a large pond. Paths link these sections, letting you see plants from many parts of the world among the surrounding park. Plant labels identify every specimen along the paths.

Its collection contains about 13,000 plant species, while 27 glasshouses hold tropical, alpine, cactus, succulent and other plants. The Palm House remains the clearest landmark among them. Built in 1874, the glass-and-cast-iron structure rises 16 metres and includes a narrow spiral staircase. Humidity gathers around the tropical planting upstairs. A 50-metre glasshouse walk displays cacti, succulents and air plants.

The university uses the garden for research and teaching among its collections. A cast-iron staircase carries you upwards through the Palm House, towards a passageway above the tropical plants.
