Kreissparkasse Köln is a public-law savings bank and universal bank headquartered in Cologne. The main building dates from the early 1950s. A fountain designed by Eduard Schmitz joined the building in 1953, giving the site a memorable visual detail. The spot is wheelchair accessible for visitors.

Its origins reach back to the Sparkasse für die Bürgermeisterei Wipperfürth, which began operating in September 1853. Later mergers enlarged the regional banking institution. Its supporting association includes Rhein-Erft, Rhein-Sieg, Rheinisch-Bergisch, and Oberbergisch, while the headquarters remains in Cologne. The main office reopened one month after Cologne’s occupation in March 1945, with military approval.

The bank introduced electronic banking for businesses in the late 1980s and launched Germany’s first savings-bank website in 1995. Private customer internet banking followed in 1998. Its foundations support regional community projects. They fund social, educational, sporting, cultural, and environmental work across the four districts. The bank supports Cologne’s Käthe Kollwitz Museum. It houses the world’s largest collection of Kollwitz’s work.
