Köln Triangle rises 103.2 metres above Cologne’s Deutz district, with a modern profile visible across the city. Completed in 2006, the tower combines a circular form with an approximately triangular ground plan. A six-storey office block stands beside it, bringing the complex’s gross floor area to about 84,300 square metres.

Dörte Gatermann of Gatermann + Schossig designed the building, which houses the European Aviation Safety Agency headquarters. Its south-facing double façade supports natural ventilation, including on the higher floors. Geothermal heat pumps, heat recovery, thermal-mass activation, and decentralised ventilation support the complex’s energy-efficient design. Each floor can regulate its own indoor environment through that decentralised ventilation system, while offices and businesses occupy the surrounding spaces.

Public access reaches the observation deck on the twenty-ninth floor and roof, where Cologne opens out around you. Across the Rhine, Cologne Cathedral and Hohenzollern Bridge anchor the panorama. A restaurant and other amenities allow visitors to linger after taking in the view. Wheelchair accessibility makes the building’s public areas easier to experience. At sunset, city lights appear as the sun drops behind the cathedral.
