Cape Medical Museum stands in the Old City Hospital Complex in Green Point, Cape Town, tracing the medical history of the Cape. Inside, dentistry, hospital care, traditional African medicine and pharmaceutical developments show how healthcare changed across the region.

Volunteers led by Professor J C De Villiers founded the museum in the 1980s, and the Western Cape government later proclaimed it a Provincial Museum.

Children and school learners can explore the human body with interactive models and videos, while educational programmes follow South Africa’s National School Curriculum. A hospital recovery ward with nursing and midwifery equipment leaves one especially vivid impression.
