Heinekens Park, Hofmeierhaus lies in Bremen’s Oberneuland district and combines an estate manager’s house with a historic park. The Hofmeierhaus dates from around 1790 and anchors the site’s architectural record.

Albert Schumacher developed the estate after 1762, placing a new single-storey residence behind a wooded park. Christian Abraham Heineken later owned this Bremen estate. He served Bremen as a councilman and mayor. Between 1782 and 1795, Gottlieb Altmann reshaped the grounds in the style of late Dutch Baroque. The park contains a precious hornbeam hedge rondel.

Significant changes affected the property around 1810. Later changes transformed the grounds into a landscape park, while the estate gained Baroque, Rococo and Classical elements. The estate reflects several distinct architectural periods. Large parts of the estate were sold from 1969 as property taxes increased. The city of Bremen considered buying the estate for a public park, then abandoned that plan. The remaining park area became part of Bremen’s property. The recorded history connects named figures, changing garden designs and a distinctive feature in Oberneuland.
