St.-Annen-Kapelle stands on Berlin’s Alter Domfriedhof as a brick chapel with a completely circular ground plan. Its domed form recalls St. Hedwig, Berlin’s Catholic main church. Built in the nineteenth century, the chapel places a central plan beneath a dome with a gold band. A nearly square annex joins it through a small passage. This annex includes a sacristy and access to an undercroft that served as a crypt and coffin store. Several renovations preserved the chapel’s original architectural details. Inside, a white marble floor and wall columns with gilded capitals support round arches around the interior. The restored materials give the space a clear visual structure. Two angels by Josef Limburg stand along the main path, one praying and one mourning, and Limburg is buried here. Their original destination was a soldiers’ cemetery in France. The chapel is wheelchair accessible, alongside its recorded architectural features and memorial sculptures.
