The Golgatha-Kirche stands in Berlin’s Mitte district as an evangelical church and protected historical monument. It belongs to the Evangelische Kirchengemeinde am Weinberg.

Architect Max Spitta shaped the church’s red-brick exterior in the North German Brick Gothic tradition. A tall square tower anchors the street façade. The richly decorated main portal opens onto a cross-shaped gallery hall with a short nave and narrow transepts. A rectangular chancel completes the interior plan of the church. White surfaces highlight the red brick bands and ribs that structure the later interior colour scheme. The church returned to use after extensive restoration. Wartime damage removed parts of the original murals and stained glass, while restoration preserved the building’s architectural character. Blue-toned replacement windows remain visible inside the church. Original murals showed heavenly scenes and musical angels, while Ernst Christian Pfannschmidt’s altar depicts the Crucifixion. Wilhelm Sauer’s organ remains part of the church’s historical interior. The church’s name recalls Golgotha, the hill outside ancient Jerusalem associated with Jesus’s Crucifixion. Its brick, tower, portal, and gallery hall define the spot’s architectural identity.
