The Deutsches Spionagemuseum stands near Potsdamer Platz in central Berlin, where Cold War division once shaped the surrounding city. Its setting connects espionage with Berlin’s divided past. Frank Wittmer designed the building around ideas drawn from Glienicke Bridge, the Cold War’s celebrated bridge of spies. The former logistics building now houses the museum.

Its collection follows espionage from ancient practices through the world wars and Cold War, with more than one thousand artefacts. Spy equipment and cryptology anchor that history. Interactive displays let you decode messages with an Enigma machine, cross a laser maze, and examine animals such as pigeons. A 007 section adds cinema to the collection.

More than two hundred screens and projections turn the renovated interior into a multimedia account of spying in the digital age. Former journalist Franz-Michael Günther founded the museum, which combines historical objects with hands-on digital installations. A multi-touch scanner table makes evidence responsive. The museum is wheelchair accessible.
