Torre de Santa Margarida stands among the woods on Collserola’s western slopes, within the natural park outside Barcelona. Ruined buildings, a chapel, a gallery, and collapsed farm structures create a layered rural scene. Romanesque details survive in the side chapel and one window.

The site appears in documents from 1147, while a chapel stood here by 1175. In 1226, Bishop Berenguer de Palou gave the property to the Cistercian monastery of Santes Creus. Nuns later moved beyond Barcelona’s walls, and the complex became a residence and farmhouse. From 1464, Alamanda de Pia leased the house and land to Pere Busquets. Later owners included the Almogàver, Albanell, Montsuar, Argençola, and Rocabertí families.

Vegetable gardens still mark the ground around the buildings, linking the ruins to their agricultural past. The surrounding forest also shows traces of human care, including replanted trees and maintained gardens. Today, the protected site preserves the meeting of religious life, farming, and changing ownership.
