Pavellons Güell stands in Barcelona as a group of buildings by Antoni Gaudí, created between 1884 and 1887. The former Güell estate brings together gatehouses, stables, and a longeing ring.

The buildings mark Gaudí’s first commission for Eusebi Güell, whose family used the grounds as a summer residence. Red and yellow bricks, coloured glass, ceramic ventilators, and prefabricated cement blocks shape the early Modernisme ensemble. Gaudí also designed gardens with a pergola, two fountains, and Mediterranean trees including pines, palms, cypresses, and magnolias. The surviving complex later became associated with the Royal Gaudí Chair and the Faculty of Biology’s Botanic Garden.

The entrance dragon represents Ladon, guardian of the Garden of the Hesperides in Greek mythology. Its wrought-iron body has bat-like wings, scales, sharp teeth, and a forked tongue. A small orange tree with golden fruit rises above the sculpture, linking the gate to Hercules and Jacint Verdaguer’s L’Atlàntida.
