The Palau de les Heures, also known as Casa Gallart, stands in Barcelona’s Montbau district among surrounding woodlands. Its French château-inspired design rises above gardens arranged across three terraces. Four cylindrical towers carry conical roofs, while a balustraded terrace opens wide views across the grounds. Its façade extends for more than eighty metres.

Josep Gallart i Forgas commissioned architect August Font i Carreres after acquiring the Can Duran estate in 1893. The new residence replaced an older farmhouse on the estate. Adrià Piera designed the grounds with fountains, ponds, planted beds, and carefully arranged trees. The Generalitat requisitioned it during the Spanish Civil War. A tunnel about fifty-three metres long became an air-raid shelter beneath the gardens during that period. After restoration, the family reoccupied the residence. Following decline and a proposed demolition in 1972, architects restored the complex in 1986 for the University of Barcelona’s Mundet campus.

Inside, a Louis XV ballroom, chapel, dining room, and billiard room reveal the residence’s intended scale. The east tower held a photography laboratory for the family. Two reservoirs and roughly eight hundred metres of underground channels supplied water for the ornamental landscape. The stables accommodated seven horses beside the coach house. The wrought-iron fence carries ivy motifs, which explain the name used for the estate.
