Jaciment del Born lies beneath Barcelona’s Born Market, preserving streets and buildings from the Ribera neighbourhood. The remains cover a broad archaeological area beneath the market. The excavated landscape includes streets, houses, workshops, warehouses, drainage channels, and traces of earlier cemeteries. The historic Rec Comtal runs through the archaeological site. This medieval canal carried water into Barcelona and shaped the layout of homes, workshops, and streets around it. A surviving bridge crosses the medieval channel within the site. The excavated area includes fragments of streets and the complete Bornet square, alongside Gothic buildings with later alterations. Narrow streets separate homes, palaces, workplaces, and storage buildings. A gaming house called a triquet records social life, while the Hostal de l’Alba marks a former inn near the canal. The Colomer house also contained a large tavern facing two streets. The remains preserve a detailed view of eighteenth-century Barcelona before the Ribera neighbourhood changed through demolition for the Ciutadella fortress. The site forms part of El Born, Museu d’Història de Barcelona.
