Dusit Palace forms a royal residence compound in Bangkok, Thailand, where gardens, lawns, canals, and historic buildings shape the grounds. King Chulalongkorn created the complex north of Rattanakosin Island.

He sought spacious surroundings beyond the crowded Grand Palace, and the new compound became a primary residence for Thai kings. Its original name, Suan Dusit, means celestial garden.

Vimanmek Mansion, Abhisek Dusit Throne Hall, and Amphorn Sathan Residential Hall stand among its principal buildings. Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall stands within the compound.

Chitralada Royal Villa also belongs to the palace's principal buildings and reflects its continuing royal history. Wat Benchamabophit served as the palace's official temple.

Ratchadamnoen Avenue and the palace helped Bangkok expand beyond its traditional centre into the surrounding landscape. Outer, middle, and inner courts divide the grounds.

Gardens and waterways separate these courts and organize the palace precinct around its royal residences. Museums and exhibitions occupy buildings within the palace grounds, though public access remains limited.

The compound also records Thailand's constitutional transition through the transfer of part of the palace to constitutional government. Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall later served as a meeting place for Thailand's National Assembly.
