St. Peter und Paul stands in Augsburg’s Oberhausen district as a Roman Catholic parish church and protected monument. Its lower tower preserves three Romanesque stories, while a late Gothic choir remains beside the later nave. Roman military activity occupied this site around 15 BC, and a second-century pillar monument appeared during cellar construction in 1709.

The church itself has been documented since about 1200, linking the site to Augsburg’s medieval development. Hans Baur built the larger nave in 1603 and 1604, while Elias Holl added the tower’s onion dome in 1619. Christoph Dietz reshaped the interior in 1698, and side chapels introduced Baroque character around 1700.

Five bombs destroyed the church’s interior during the Augsburg air raids of 1944, leaving only its walls and tower. Ulrich Reithmayer rebuilt it in simplified form in 1948, retaining the historic floor plan. A late-fifteenth-century Madonna, a Baroque Mount of Olives group, and a 41-stop organ built in 2001 remain notable details.
