Dominikanerinnen-Kloster Sankt Ursula stands in Augsburg’s Lechviertel, beside the city wall and the Schwalllech waterways. Its church presents a 1520 structure reshaped around 1720 and 1730.

Berthold Rehm gave a house here to Beguines in 1335, beginning a community later guided by St. Magdalena. In 1431, the women became regulated tertiaries, and the church received its dedication to Saint Ursula in 1432. Reformation upheaval sent the community to Dillingen from 1537 to 1548. The convent introduced enclosure in 1695, while its sisters practised sewing, embroidery, nursing, and education. Secularisation dissolved the monastery in 1803, but twenty-one nuns remained in the buildings until their deaths. New novices returned after its re-establishment in 1828, and a girls’ school later served the St. Ulrich parish.

War damage led to a simpler reconstruction in 1947, following plans by Michael Kurz. A Realschule now occupies the complex, continuing its connection with education. Eastward, roughly 100 metres of Augsburg’s historic city wall remains beside the buildings. In front, the Schwalllech divides into the Hinterer Lech and Mittlerer Lech, two branches of Augsburg’s waterway system.
