Te Boelaarpark is a sixteen-hectare city park in Antwerp’s Borgerhout district, combining lawns, sports areas, paths, and woodland corners.

The playground gives children a dedicated place for play. Its paths accommodate walkers, joggers, and cyclists, while open grass provides space for recreation and rest.

Older trees shape the park across its lawns. Lebanon cedars, horse chestnuts, American oaks, swamp oaks, beeches, summer oaks, and a large magnolia stand among them.

Wild plants appear in secluded corners of the grounds. Ivy, wood anemone, bluebells, Solomon’s seal, lesser celandine, and rare wild tulips grow in less accessible areas.

The name points to beech trees and a forest clearing. Its history reaches back to 1385, when a farm called ’t Goet Te Boelaer occupied the site.

The estate later developed into a castle property. The castle suffered wartime damage, and its ruins were demolished in 1979, leaving an ornamental fountain nearby.

The Cogel Pavilion remains as the estate’s surviving building. This small brick building with a thatched roof is the only surviving structure from the original estate.

Former estate buildings house schools. The former orangery and coach house now serve as a kindergarten and primary school within the heritage setting.

A monument by May Claerhout honours Willem De Meyer. Te Boelaarpark therefore brings together Antwerp history, mature trees, recreational spaces, schools, and everyday neighbourhood life.
