The Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekapel names two chapels in Antwerp, each with distinct architectural histories and Marian dedications.

The better-known chapel dates from 1855 to 1857. Its central square plan has rounded apses on three sides, creating a neobyzantine setting designed by J. De Ro. Joseph Bellemans and his students painted the walls. The eastern apse presents God the Father, Mary, saints, angels, and Passion scenes from the Stations of the Cross. The southern apse shows Mary and Jesus, with Magi and shepherds nearby. The northern apse combines Daniel’s Ancient of Days, Mary, Adam and Eve, donor coats of arms, and further Passion scenes. Water damage harmed the murals after the chapel became a concert-hall foyer, but restoration preserved its architecture and decoration.

A second chapel carries the same name. Vincent Cols and Jules De Roeck designed its neogothic building, completed in 1933 for the della Faille de Waerloos family. Red brick, white natural-stone frames, a slate roof, and a Tudor-arched entrance define the exterior. Inside, a tiled floor, pointed wooden vault, Marian statue, and family coat of arms complete the simple interior. Together, these chapels record Antwerp’s religious and architectural heritage through painted decoration, memorials, and local family history.
