Hof De Bist is a public park and protected heritage estate in Antwerp’s Ekeren district, shaped by nearly 150 years of change. The estate is also known as Hof van Guyot. In 1873, Emiel Edouard Guyot commissioned a neoclassical country house on former farmland beside the landscaped park. The rectangular neoclassical mansion rises across two storeys. Its plastered brick façade rests on a blue-stone base and carries pilasters, cornices, barred basement windows, and a slate hipped roof. A broad staircase reaches the northeast entrance. Southeast of the house, a former farm contains a farmhouse, coach house, barn, and an octagonal brick pavilion. The farm now houses Brasserie Hof De Bist. Curving paths, dense plantings, ponds, lawns, and tree groups retain features from the estate’s nineteenth- and twentieth-century layouts. The northern paths form an eight-shaped loop. Playgrounds and a play forest occupy parts of the public park, while an American oak and Italian poplar mark its planting. A bronze sculpture bears the name De Grote Zee. The mansion interior serves as an exhibition space, and the surrounding landscape combines recreation with architectural history. The estate links Antwerp’s country-house history with a public park, restaurant, playgrounds, and surviving farm buildings.
