Districtshuis Borgerhout is a former town hall in Antwerp’s Borgerhout district, built in Flemish Neo-Renaissance style. Leonard and Henri Blomme designed the building between 1886 and 1889.

Brick, natural stone, ornate details, and a decorated northern façade define its architectural character. A central tower rises above the northern façade.

Inside, the central tower contains a bronze carillon that can be played manually or automatically. The tower’s carillon combines manual playing with automatic melodies.

Sculptures, including work by Dutch artist Alfons Baggen, connect the civic interiors with the building’s decorative tradition. Borgerhout joined Antwerp as a district in 1983.

The building now houses the district council, administrative services, and cultural activities including performances and exhibitions. Its ground floor provides city services for residents.

The first floor contains district operations, while the ceremonial second floor contains offices for aldermen and the chairperson. An east-side entrance improves access for users.

Restoration work has addressed roofs, dormer windows, stained glass, the tower, and the carillon while preserving the building’s heritage. The protected monument remains part of Borgerhout’s civic life.
