De Studio in Antwerp occupies a neoclassical city palace built around 1780 for Baron François-Joseph van Ertborn. Its carriage entrance and garden remain distinctive features.

The garden salon preserves a rotunda, Corinthian columns, parquet floors, marble fireplaces, mirrors, and decorative panels in an antique-inspired style. The building later served as a bank.

During the 1880s, architect Eugène-Emile Esnault-Pelterie added hotel wings, a winter garden, reading room, billiard room, exhibition space, and ballroom for the Grand Hôtel. The First World War brought military occupation to the hotel.

After 1919, a bank converted the salons into an ornate banking hall with mosaic flooring and basement vaults. Studio Herman Teirlinck moved into the building in 1970.

De Studio now works as an arts house for young audiences, bringing theatre, film, visual art, media, and social questions into adaptable spaces. De Cinema occupies part of the same building.

Its programme combines film history, contemporary cinema, and future classics with theatre, exhibitions, performances, and cultural projects. The building’s changing rooms can host a theatre hall, club, gallery, or conference space.
